Marco Zanchetta confirmed his name among that of the protagonists of the Italian ACI Karting Championship on Maranello-Tm with another great run in KZ2 during the first Final held at the International Circuit Napoli of Sarno. This result keeps him in the lead of the classification.
Zanchetta claimed another powerful win in Sarno’s second act of the season, the second one after that secured in the first of the two finals held in Lonato. Unfortunately, Zanchetta had to retire early from Sarno’s Race-2 due to an incident, otherwise he could have scored another strong result despite starting eighth due to the grid inversion. Zanchetta had an incident while wrestling hisposition quickly back to the top.
“What a shame for this incident – Zanchetta stated – we were quick and could have run a strong Race-2. We worked well for the whole weekend and it is a pity that I basically did not race in the second final. It was my mistake because I was in a hurry trying not to lose sight of the guys ahead of me. I am sorry because we lost some important points. The package is really very good and we keep developing its great potential.”
The other strong protagonist of Sarno’s KZ2 has been Marco Pastacaldi, who has always been very quick in the leading group. Pastacaldi closed Race-1 in fourth place but he could have taken the podium, result that he promptly achieved in Race-2 thanks to a bold performance allowing him to cross the finish line in P2. Thanks to this double result in Sarno, Pastacaldi is now third in the Championship.
Category KZ3 made its debut in Sarno with the three classes Junior, Under and Over. Luca Bombardelli came to the fore in KZ3 Junior on Maranello-Tm. He was in fact second in qualifying and first after the two qualifying heats, just ahead of team mate Roberto Cesari. Bombardelli confirmed his speed winning Race-1 from Cesari, before taking P3 in Race-2, as Cesari ended fifth in the occasion. Maranello Kart’s Pasquale Pannone closed also in the top ten, taking the ninth place in Race-1 and the eighth in Race-2. Bombardelli is now leading the classification, while Cesari is second 16 points shy of the leader.
In KZ3 Over, Andrea Tonoli has been the best Maranello driver thanks to a second place in the first final and a third in Race-2. Cristian Griggio has also been very quick posting the second time in qualifying and being second ahead of Tonoli after the heats. A contact at the start of the first final forced Griggio to the retirement though, but he managed to come back in the second race ending fifth. Attilio Borghi has also been competing for Maranello colors, ending Race-1 in tenth place due to a penalty for the dropped front fairing, while he had to retire from Race-2. Roberto Perri was 12th in Race-1 andin Race-2. Tonoli is currently secondin the championship.
Alessio Zanotti has been the quickest Maranello Kart’s driver in KZ3 Under. He claimed the pole position in qualifying and won both heats. Zanotti could not make the most of what built up to that point in the two Finals, and was 13th in Race-1 before retiring from Race-2.
