Zanchetta was third in the first of the two finals of KZ2 in Battipaglia and pulled away in the classification. Great victory for Pastacaldi from Zanchetta in the second final.

Maranello Kart and Marco Zanchetta strengthened their classification lead in KZ2 at the third round of the Italian Championship held in Battipaglia. Marco Pastacaldi also came to the fore as both drivers put in very strong performances in the two finals of this mid-season round.

The two Maranello Kart drivers put in a strong performance on a tricky circuit like that of Battipaglia. Finding the right setup on the 1.345 meters of the circuit of Sele has not been easy as witnessed by the weekend of Zanchetta and Pastacaldi that constantly improved their performance until they found the winning pace in the two finals.

Zanchetta recovered brilliantly from the starting P6 in Race-1 and took the third place, while Pastacaldi climbed up to P9 from the 19th place held after the heats.

“We managed to score important points – Zanchetta confirmed after his third place in Race-1 –despite a difficult start. We found the right setup and filled the gap with the quickest, recovering without making mistakes despite an aggressive driving. Our objective is to bring home as many points as possible. Things went well, our technicians have been great and I would like to thank them all, as this third place is really important for the Championship.”

The final shot arrived in Race-2 with a literally unleashed Pastacaldi that took the lead of the race proceeding Zanchetta, who had been authoritatively leading the race up to that point. The two ended the race taking a stunning one-two for Maranello Kart with Pastacaldi claiming the victory and Zanchetta following him.

“I am really happy for this win – Marco Pastacaldi said – and also for the one-two scored by Maranello Kart. After some initial errors, I managed to improve my speed. I have to thank Maranello Kart, Stefano Griggio and Viti Racing, as well as all the people that are helping me.”

Marco Zanchetta’s final comment: “The second place in Race-2 is extremely positive. Thanks to the result in the two finals of Battipaglia I feel better for the Championship. Obviously, I would have preferred to take the win, but I am happy for Pastacaldi, who has always been very quick and deserved this victory. The package is great, we worked very well.”

Michele Caputo and Luigi Del Vecchio also competed in KZ2 with Maranello. Both drivers had to retire from Race-1 but put in a good recovery in Race-2, as Caputo was 16th and Del Vecchio22nd.
