Marco Zanchetta put in a good performance in KZ2 at the second round of the Italian ACI Karting Championship in Sarno, after the podium claimed in La Conca, while Marco Pastacaldi and Maranello Kart bounced back securing a podium finish in Race1.
A good result allows Marco Zanchetta to hold on in the fight for the Italian 2018 title and to confirm his place among the strongest protagonists of the Italian Championship. Marco Pastacaldi also slided in among the quickest of the category after the retirement in La Conca.
Marco Zanchetta had to recover several positions after the qualifying stages, as he posted the sixth time of his group and was eighth after the heats. Zanchetta put in a strong pace since the beginning of Race1 and managed to recover several positions up to the second place, behind classification leader Pollini. Zanchetta’s momentum continued in the second race, when he recovered well from the top 8 grid inversion and claimed a good fourth place that promoted him to the fourth place of the provisional classification.
Marco Pastacaldi started off very well in qualifying, posting the fourth quickest time of his group, position that he kept also at the end of the heats. Pastacaldi fought for the podium until the last lap of Race1, achieving the target and closing his effort behind Zanchetta in P3. Some race contacts unfortunately forced Pastacaldi to concede a few positions in Race2, but he managed to end his weekend in ninth place, confirming to be among the quickest on track.
Maranello and team Oracle fielded Luigi Del Vecchio in Sarno’s KZ2, but he had a technical problem to the gears in Race1 and had to retire from Race2 due to an incident.
Category 60 Mini had 83 drivers on track. Among these, Alex Iancu has been quite unlucky on Maranello-Tm. He managed to qualify for the Final, but did not finish Race1. The young Romanian driver run a solid Race2 ending 23rd. The very young Luca Paul Visoreanu also competed in Mini, and, despite not managing to qualify for the final, he acquired an important experience for his career, which is, in fact, his current focus.
The next round of the Italian ACI Karting Championship will take place next July 1st at the South Garda Karting Circuit in Lonato.
