DANTE AND DRUDI STRONG PROTAGONISTS WITH MARANELLO KART IN LONATO'S ROUND OF THE ITALIAN CHAMPIONSHIP

17/09/2013

Dante just missed on the win in the fourth round of the Italian Championship but a second place in Final-1 allowed him to stay on top of the standings with a 22 points lead. Solid performance also by Mattia Drudi, fourth in race-1 and seventh in the standings, who confirmed to be the most consistent of the youngsters in KZ2.

Lonato del Garda (Brescia). The Circuit South Garda Karting housed the fourth round of the Italian CSAI Karting Championship and Massimo Dante together with Maranello Kart have been once again among the main protagonists of the KZ2 weekend as the driver put in a string of high level performances at the wheel of the new chassis RS7 produced by the Italian firm.
Massimo Dante's performance, on Maranello-Tm, got concrete since qualifying where the driver from Trento set the quickest time that allowed him to run two great qualifying heats where he scored a win and a second place.
The first of the two Finals of KZ2 was particularly close with Dante protagonists again even though towards the end he could not harvest the victory that seemed to be at his grasp. Started on pole, the Italian driver in force at Maranello Kart managed to get the lead of the race after the very tight initial laps but when he was heading to the victory with only two corners to go he has been violently hit by a rival that stripped him from the first position and from the joy of the win. Dante ended second anyway and together with the podium he obtained 30 very handy points for the classification.
In the second Final Dante was involved in an incident while racing within the group of the front runners; he afterwards put in a recover but crossed the finish line in 19th position.
Overall Dante's weekend has been very positive both in terms of on track speed and of classification where he confirmed to be on top with a lead that now is extended to 22 points to his closest rival when only the final race of Castelletto di Branduzzo – scheduled for October 27th – is left. Very good performance also for Mattia Drudi, who has been competing on Maranello-Tm in KZ2 showing to be more and more at ease in his maiden season in the category with the shift.
Drudi produced a good race in Final-1 where he got close to the podium recovering all the way from the starting P9 to the fourth place. In the second Final he hit a rival that suddenly slowed down ahead of him and was forced to the retirement. Drudi is currently seventh in the championship's classification confirming to be the most productive young driver in this category.

The classification of the Italian CSAI Karting Championship after the fourth round follows:

1. Dante (Maranello-Tm) points 139; 2. Celenta (Energy-Tm) 117; 3. Pastacaldi (Birel-Tm) and Piccioni (Intrepid-Tm) 94; 6. Mazzali (Art GP-Tm) 73; 7. Drudi (Maranello-Tm) 64; 8. Spinelli (CRG-Tm) 62; 9. Di Poto (Rosso Korsa-Tm) 57; 10. Marconi (First-Tm) 56.
