EXCELLENT SECOND PLACE ACHIEVED IN WACKERSDORF BY MARCO ZANCHETTA

Wackersdorf (Germania). There is no doubt that SGrace/Maranello Kart this season has already had the opportunity to be appreciated for the performance of their chassis, but the striking result obtained during the first round of the CIK-FIA European Championship on the difficult circuit of Wackersdorf, is a further confirmation of how high the level of competitiveness achieved by the Italian house.

The standings of the race in Germany say it all: the Maranello RS10, powered TM, is the cutting edge of competitiveness especially in KZ2. Marco Zanchetta and the Swedish Douglas Lundberg were the protagonists of the race together with Luca Tilloca, at his debut on a Maranello kart, and all the rest of the team: the Swedish Jonas Hansen, Enrico Bernadotto, Christoph Hold and Serkos Movsesian.

Yannick De Brabander, on the other hand, raced in KZ assisted by EGP, but this time the strong Belgian driver was dogged by bad luck throughout the whole weekend.

The driver who achieved the best result for SGrace/Maranello Kart in KZ2 was Marco Zanchetta, who was protagonist of an outstanding winning streak in the heats: five wins and a second place.

Zanchetta's winning streak continued in the Pre-final, even though the winner here was his teammate Lundberg, while the Italian driver was the runner-up. It was an awesome one-two for the Italian team.

In the Final Zanchetta put in another thrilling performance until the finishing line, conquering a fantastic second place after a gripping battle against Riccardo Negro, who had gained the lead in the first laps of the race.

Good performance also for Douglas Lundberg, who managed to get good results in the heats, to win the Pre-final and, finally, placed sixth in the Final.

Luca Tilloca's performance was outstanding too: he was slowed down by some accidents in the heats, but in the Pre-final he recovered well and placed fifth. Eventually, he achieved the 8th place in the hard-fought final. His result brought three Maranello chassis in the top ten of Wackersdorf.

Good performance also for Jonas Hansen, 24th in the Final and 12th in the Pre-final. On the other hand, Enrico Bernadotto was rather unlucky; he was obliged to retire in the Pre-final as well as the Austrian Christoph Hold, while the Greek Serkos Movsesian did not manage to enter the final phase.

This is what Marco Zanchetta said as soon as he stepped down the KZ2 podium: “This is, for us, one of the overall most important races. We came here with a well prepared equipment and, in the race, everything worked perfectly. We were very competitive. My compliments to Negro for his victory, but on a technical and sports level we were equal. I did not try to overtake because I did't want to run any risk. We have another chance in Genk, for the second round of the championship: I'll take my chance there. Anyway, I'm definitely happy for this podium and I want to say thanks to Maranello Kart, SG Race, Rizzi, my mechanic and my father.”
